Optimising stock across channels

Cutting costs whilst maintaining or even improving customer service levels, the practice of optimising stock across all channels means that stock holding levels can be safely reduced. This represents a considerable advantage for retailers competing in today’s highly demanding commercial environment.

Stock is a major investment for all retailers and optimising stock ensures that stock levels are kept as low as possible, whilst ensuring that customer demand can be met. At the same time, optimising stock avoids having stock 'stuck' in the ecommerce system when one of the stores is out of stock.

Although challenging, optimising stock is clearly essential if retailers are to maximise sales and deliver outstanding customer service. A truly integrated multi channel system, which manages the stock across the sales channels, will minimise stock holdings and ensure that all channels have stock available to buy.
