Implementing new channels

In order to market quickly and easily whilst optimising customer service and maximizing sales, it's important that retailers should have flexible and fully integrated systems in place which will allow them to start implementing new channels as and when they appear. One of the key challenges of implementing new channels is that although web and mail order channels are now a fairly common addition to the traditional stores, many retailers struggle to integrate them and relatively few have a true 360o view of their customers buying habits across all channels; which is essential when implementing new channels.

Retailers considering implementing new channels today already face a number of channels that are increasing in popularity. These include: kiosks which enable customers to buy online before they leave the store; mobile to allow customers to receive promotional offers and order whilst on the move; and social networking to give customers the ability to share information on line with others. The number of channels is constantly increasing and many more, as yet unimagined, will undoubtedly be developed so it is likely that the challenges of implementing new channels will increase accordingly.
