CyberMall - The new multi-channel

21 April 2010

Gone are the days when you used to pop out to green grocer, butcher or fish monger to buy your groceries. You used to walk along the high street, chat to your neighbours along the way and meet your local shop keeper who would genuinely ask “How are you”. Now of course, in this modern age you can buy anything, from anywhere, at anytime, and get it delivered when you want it (well not quite), but you understand what I mean.

The question I have been thinking about is whether this is more convenient or actually a retrograde step. A strange question to ask actually. But what about the millions of people that don’t want to shop online, or travel to the large out of town concrete jungle? What of social interaction, the sense of community and the neighbourly spirit. How can we merge the best of both the traditional world and the cyberworld. Blending these two parallels together.

Then a touch of genius. A 3D virtual shopping mail. You simply put on your 3D wifi enabled glasses, and see your favourite shopping mall, configured with just the stores you want to be there. There’s a large plaza where you can meet and chat with your friends and enjoy a cyber coffee and cake.

The stores have all the Epos and retail software to make your retail experience enjoyable. Paying and getting your home shopping delivered has never been easier, as each store has state of the art Multi-channel software – from Maginus and Microsoft Dynamics AX of course! Simply the best.

The beauty of the CyberMall is that you can wander physically around it, the motion camera on the front of your Wii/Xbox/PS3 or set top box, recognises your movements as well. No more couch potato.

This type of virtual world merges the best of ecommerce functionality, with social media, new 3d hardware technology and exploits the latest high volume broadband.

This may only be a pipedream but not’s not that far away. I’m off to play space invaders.
